Preferred qualifications

  • Experience teaching or tutoring math and/or ELA.
  • Strong communication and a belief that all students can succeed.
  • Familiarity with research-based instructional practices.
  • Confidence working with tools such as Google Meet and Zoom.
  • A reliable computer and internet connection.

Strongly preferred: a degree in Education or a related field.

You must meet all of the requirements below to tutor with Cignition. Please review them before submitting your application.

  1. Complete ink fingerprinting in the U.S.

    All hires must complete physical (ink) fingerprinting at a U.S. location within two weeks of completing onboarding paperwork. Failure to complete this requirement will result in termination.

  2. Use a compatible computer & equipment.

    You need a supported computer, the latest Google Chrome, a 720p or higher camera, speakers, and a microphone. Mobile devices, iPads, and tablets are not acceptable.

  3. Meet the internet requirements.

    At least 10 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download; latency below 150 ms; jitter below 40 ms; and packet loss no higher than 2%.

Operating system
macOS 14 Sonoma or higher; Windows 11; or a Chromebook eligible for the latest updates. Check Chromebook update eligibility.
Processor & memory
Dual Core 2.4 GHz or higher (Intel i3/i5/i7 or AMD equivalent) and at least 4 GB RAM.
Video & audio
One or more monitors; a camera capable of 720p or higher; speakers and a microphone, either built in or through a headset.
Browser
The latest version of Google Chrome.
